True Laptop Manufacturer

People use laptops of various brands, such as Compaq, Lenovo and Toshiba. However, many people think that the laptop company itself manufactures the laptop they are using. However, it is not true that laptop companies manufacture laptops. The truth is that laptop companies buy Original Design Manufactures (ODM) laptops and market them with the company name.

In true sense, the real notebook manufacturers are Original Design Manufacturer (ODM) and Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM). There are many ODMs and OEMs like Asus, Acer, Arima and many more. Few exceptions, such as Apple and Sony, make their own laptops, and also nominal quantity. Many are not aware of these terms and the meaning of OEM vs ODM and for most this is a mystery.

ODMs and OEMs:

The ODMs are the real laptop manufacturers as they design, design and assemble the main unit of a laptop. The main units of a notebook computer include the motherboard, display and shell or outer shell. Collectively, the main unit is called the Barebone. Some examples of MDGs are Mitac, Clevo, Compal and Quanta. Usually people are unaware of these companies. However, people use their products under the name of a branded computer company.

Generally, the locations of these MDGs are in Asia and have their distribution centers in the United States. The ODM centers send their products to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). Each ODM sells its laptop to multiple OEMs.

OEMs are those companies that assemble processor, memory, optical drives, hard drives and software programs. OEMs perform the final assembly process and place the brand name on the laptop. The company then sells the laptops to resellers or resellers or directly to the public. Many companies, such as Dell and HP, have their OEMs in Asia. In short, laptop vending companies, such as Lenovo, Compaq, HP and Dell, function as OEMs.

How much is the MDG of Lenovo, which is the maker of the ThinkPad series of laptops. Lenovo acts as an OEM. Previously, LG was the IBM ODM. After Lenovo Group took over IBM, they even changed their ODM to Quanta and to date have kept their Quanta ODM as constant. Lenovo has manufactured a very small number of laptops in the past.

So the real makers of laptops are not the laptop-producing companies, but the ODMs. So individuals who enjoy the benefits of using multiple laptops from different companies need to thank the MDGs instead of the laptop company for the manufacture of laptops. ODMs and OEMs are backed up while laptop companies are just a source of sales.
